EPPM P1W6: North Sumatra - Mergui Basin Case Study: Risking of Petroleum Plays and Prospects, 4-7 September 2012, Sabah, Malaysia
About the Workshop
P1W6 is the 6th workshop under Project 1 (P1),Petroleum Resource Management with focus on Natural Gas ofthe EPPM Program and organized by the CCOP Technical Secretariat with the cooperation of PETRONAS, Malaysia. The objective is to continue with the basin analysis of North Sumatra – Mergui basin (cross-border case study) in order to have a better understanding of the big geologic picture of the basin to enhance geological interpretations and predictions – translating into higher drilling success rates.
· Enhance the knowledge of the participants in identifying the various play types in the case study basin and potential risks on these plays, and
· to perform prospect / play risking and volumetric calculation.
A geological fieldwork was organized by PETRONAS in Labuan Island to look into shallow marine and deep water formation outcrops that are analogues to the case study basin.
